Felicitating the Achievers

Humara Bachpan Trust organized felicitation events at Durubaga and Kiripsira panchayats of Hemgir block of Sundargarh on 25th and 29th November 2021 to reward and appreciate the women achievers. 

Sundargarh Collector and District Magistrate Nikhil Pavan Kalyan felicitated 10 exemplar women entrepreneurs from Durubaga panchayat of Sundargarh district at the “Empowering women with transformational Life Skills Women Conclave” organized on 25th November 2021. Over 250 women from 5 villages of the panchayat participated in the programme. 

On 29th November 2021, another 10 women of Kiripsira panchayat were felicitated by Head of Project, National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) Dulunga, Shri Shivam Srivastava.

During the felicitation event, the women trainees spoke about the changes the various modules of the training have brought in their life. The trainees shared how the training and the support from HBT has made a positive impact on their livelihoods. They also shared how because of the training their leadership has improved and they are able to voice their opinions with more confidence. Furthermore, the trainees expressed how they are now able to manage their time and stress and lead a healthier life. 

Humara Bachpan implemented project “Empowering women with transformational Life Skills” in five of mining affected panchayats of Hemgir block which was supported by Sundargarh District Periphery Development Society (SDPDS) and Dulunga Coal Mines project (NTPC ). 3024 women were identified from different social backgrounds and were trained under the program.

Because of the training, 300 women were developed as nano entrepreneurs in vegetable growing, mushroom cultivation, vegetable vending, tailoring, and various other vocations. The training has also improved the self-efficacy and leadership qualities of the women, and 8 women groups have been formed in 8 villages with 190 members & 76 women leaders. The women were provided with financial literacy and 210 women have confirmed having a savings plan and household budget to meet the pandemic situation. Apart from that, 268 women have adopted drinking water purification method and improved menstrual hygiene practices.

The events were graced by District Social Welfare Officer Sundargarh Mrs. Prabasini Chakra, Joint Secretary, SDPDS Shri Suman Kishore Dungdung, Shri Mukesh Panda, Block Development Officer Hemgir, Dr Jagdish Mahanandia,  Block Chairman Hemgir, Mrs. Sudharani Raudia, Child Development Project Officer Hemgir, Mrs. Aparna Mallick, Program Officer, Mrs. Chuleswari Patel and Sarpanch Durubaga and Sarpanch Sangumuda and Founder Chairperson Humara Bachpan Trust Dharitri Patnaik.

Every year, Humara Bachpan Trust observes the 16 days of Activism Against Gender-based Violence and takes different measures to create awareness to prevent all forms of violence against women and girls. This year too, HBT will be observing the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence across its various operational areas.
On 26th of November, HBT organised various events in Malanpur, Madhya Pradesh, and Bhubaneswar, Odisha.
In Tilori village of Malanpur area of Madhya Pradesh. HBT organised a Community Based Training on Women’s Rights & Legal Awareness. where 40 women and adolescent girls were informed of their constitutional rights which would help them in fighting against discrimination and violence. In Ghirongi village, a Poster March was organised on the issue of Gender-based violence, covering the entire village.
In Bhubaneswar, a Legal Awareness Camp on workplace harassment was organised with Sub-inspector
Rashmiirekha Behera as the resource person. She spoke to over 30 participants and explained to them about preventing, addressing and reporting workplace harassment. Dharitri Patnaik
