International Youth Day 2019

Humara Bachpan Trust (HBT) observed international youth day bringing together more than 500 youth from urban and rural areas of Puri and Bhubaneswar to recognize the efforts of youth in the development process. An event was organized at Institution of Engineers (INDIA) Auditorium Hall, Bhubaneswar with presence of more than five hundred young boys and girls which was graced by Dr. Amar Patnaik, Honorable MP, Rajya Sabha, Mr. Tushar Kanti Behera Honourable Minister of Information Technology(IT), Youth, and Sports services, Mr. Arun Bothra (IPS), IG-Crime Branch, MD-CRUT & CEO-CESU and Mr. Rajesh Patil (IAS), Director-Special Projects, Department of PR, Government of Odisha.Speaking on the occasion Dr Amar Patnaik (MP Rajya Sabha) set example of our national leaders Swami Vivekananada, Mahatma Gandhi, Dr Abdul Kalam who have contributed in building the nation from a young age. He also gave examples of Marry Com, Duti Chand and Sudarshan Patnaik who are the young talents brining glory to the country. Dr. Patnaik urged the young mass to bring transformation in own lives and in the society following the path of 3 ‘C’s: Courage, Conviction and Commitment.
Addressing the gathering, Hon’ble Minister Mr. Tushar Kanti Behera said “your hard work of today will not go waste and will certainly pay off in the days to come. Nurture your youth with diligence, sincerity and hard work.”


Mr. Arun Bothra (IG-Crime Branch, MD-CRUT & CEO-CESU) discussed about the cyber crime and how young people are getting victimized of this because of lack of consciousness. He suggested youth to become conscious and careful of their deeds so that they will not be victimized of different crimes.


Giving emphasis to the theme of the year “Transforming Education”, Mr. Rajesh Patil said youth should have access to a quality education that prepares them to lead healthy and productive lives and contribute to their communities. Education for the youth is the medium with the help of which they can quench their thirst for realizing their potentialities. The youth should be equipped with the best possible education and facilitated with favorable conditions to, through the attainment of their skills, be an asset to the community and that way contribute actively to the development of the community.


Ms. Dharitri Patnaik (Founder Executive Chairperson, HBT), set the objectives of international youth day and congratulated the youth on the occasion.
The program was supported by Falcon Group, Bhubaneswar Smart City Limited (BSCL),UNFPA, Swosti Group and Diversified Energy Solutions Pvt. Ltd. (DESPL).


Prior to the event, meetings, debates and painting competitions held at various locations, winners of which got felicitated and their work were exhibited. Youth volunteers who put in outstanding efforts during Cyclone Fani relief operations were also felicitated along with youths who have been identified as ‘HBT YUVAs’ for their exemplary achievements and being role-models by the guests of the occasion.
